La Suisse est caractérisée par des institutions politiques particulières. Nous allons parler ici de trois d'entre-elles. La première est la neutralité, c'est-à-dire le choix de ne pas se mêler des conflits se déroulant à l'étranger. La deuxième est le fédéralisme, c'est-à-dire le partage des tâches entre confédération, cantons et communes. Et la troisième est la démocratie directe, c'est-à-dire le droit de signer des initiatives et des référendums et d'y apporter son vote.
